A new agreement will strengthen the working
relationship between Defense Supply Center Columbus and one of its major
suppliers to better serve the warfighter.
Navy Capt. Griff Warren, director of Maritime Supplier Operations
at DSCC, and JGB Enterprises Inc. owner Jay Bernhardt signed a Supply
Chain Agreement July 16 at DSCC.
JGB Enterprises supplies hoses and related products to the military
through DSCC and is the fifth largest supplier to the Maritime Supply
Chain in terms of dollar value of items sold. In fiscal 2006, the 30-year-old
company, which is based in Liverpool , N.Y. , sold $11.6 million
of products to DSCC business.
"You are of strategic importance to us," he told Bernhardt, "and
you are a big part of DLA's support to the warfighter."
"DLA is certainly one of our largest customers and we do appreciate
the opportunities you give us," Bernhardt responded.
The intent of a Supply Chain Agreement is to establish a long-term
working partnership with existing suppliers that incorporates both
pricing and delivery terms of the existing LTCs and an agreement to
partner in supporting new initiatives designed to improved sup port
to any DSCC customer.
Because hoses and hose assemblies are used on many different types
of military weapon systems, JGB is a supplier to more
than just the Maritime Demand Chain.

working relationship. |

In fact, Warren noted that the company "was key to keeping the High Mobility
Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee) recapitalization line going" by
meeting a need for a particular hose assembly during the last Christmas season.
"From a demand perspective, they touch all of our customers; from a supply
perspective, they are primarily located here in the Maritime Supply Chain," Warren
said.
After signing the agreement, Warren and Bernhardt shook hands and rang
a bell in Warren's office to announce the good news.
"When big things happen in Maritime Supplier Ops, we ring this ship's bell," Warren
said. |
