ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The loss of jobs moving out of Upstate New York is a hot topic for voters this election. On Wednesday, Republican Congressional candidate Dale Sweetland met with small business owners to talk about the future of jobs in Central New York.

Sweetland met with the CEO of JGB Enterprises in Liverpool and the Vice President of Byrne Dairy to discuss solutions that will create jobs in Upstate. Sweetland also toured the two facilities and spoke about what it will take to keep jobs and expand businesses in the area.

"It’s a well known fact that property taxes inhibit population growth and business growth in Upstate New York. As a congressman, I will propose that states can't pass those costs off to counties, thereby reducing county property taxes in half," Sweetland said.

Sweetland is battling with democrat Dan Maffei and green party candidate Howie Hawkins for the seat in the 25th congressional district.
